Dry-lining, also known as dot and dabbing, is the use of plasterboard to line a masonry wall. This can be used in place of the more traditional internal render and set. Plasterboard is bonded to the wall using an adhesive which can then be plastered. Although more expensive in terms of materials, it is a quicker way to achieve a flat surface upon which to plaster. Its advantages lie in the fact that it is easier to hide cabling and pipework behind it, meaning that it can be useful in bathrooms and kitchen.
